Consolidation of land, tracks and railway embankments with injections of blowing resins

WE RESTORE AND PRESERVE RAILWAY STRUCTURES WITH RESIN INJECTIONS

Consolidation interventions on the railway embankment by means of injections of blowing resins are a highly appreciated method in the railway sector thanks to the minimal invasiveness of the construction site and the possibility of intervening even with active railway traffic.

Often the consolidation interventions carried out by injecting blowing mixtures into the body of the railway embankment have the purpose of improving its resistance and deformability parameters.

THE MAIN ADVANTAGES OF OUR INTERVENTIONS

    • speed, careful planning and scheduling of execution times that allow the work to be completed in a few working days
    • improvement of the mechanical characteristics or of the behavior of the underlying soils by decreasing the weight of the body of the embankment and solving the differential settlements
    • no need for construction time, thanks to the use of fully equipped and ready-to-operate trucks
    • no need for ancillary works or site workshop tracks, the workshop truck can stop up to 80 meters from the intervention area
    • non-invasiveness, the intervention proposed by Uretek does not require interruption of railway traffic
    • continuous work monitoring, the activities are monitored in real time using laser technology and triaxial inclinometers. For further information click here: https://www.uretek.net/monitoring-control
    • it does not produce processing waste and the intervention area is not dirty
    • it does not produce potentially harmful vibrations
    • attention to the environment: the injection of Uretek® resins generates an inert final product, which does not release eluates into the soil and any groundwater present.
    • Uretek is qualified by SNCF WHICH RECOGNIZES ITS KNOW-HOW IN THE RAILWAY SECTOR VALID UNTIL JANUARY 2025..

    HOW WE INTERVENE

    • Feasibility study with the client and planning of the intervention with definition of the injection meshes and the quantity of resin to be injected.
    • Limited construction site, our workshop trucks can be positioned up to 80 meters from the intervention. No digging is required.
    • The perforations, with a diameter of 26 mm, are performed with manual electric roto-percussion perforators. The inclination of the drillings is measured by means of a toric level mounted on the hull of the driller.
    • Insertion of injection pipes. The injection cannulae are driven into the hole by hammer tools to the design depth.
    • Injection of the resin through the exclusive Uretek Multipoint® injection system, which allows maximizing the injection points within the treated soil volume by limiting the number and diameter of the perforations as much as possible. A capillary diffusion of the resin and a homogeneous treatment of the railway embankment are thus guaranteed. For further information click here: https://www.uretek.net/technologies/multipoint
    • The injection tubes are made up of steel cannulas with an external diameter of 12 mm, with a blind bottom, with millimeter holes on the side surface.
    • At the end of the injections the pipes are cut just below the ground.
    • Checks and verifications - for the control and compliance with specific tolerances imposed by the railway operation, a monitoring system is prepared and installed on the sleepers capable of supervising with great precision the parameters that describe the movement of the tracks.
    • The measurement of the transversal level using a railway gauge, performed by the network official, concludes the daily monitoring allowing the normal circulation of trains to be reopened in safety.
